Calling early career researchers – Polar Symposium December 2nd

Dear APECS members in the Netherlands,

It’s a rainy day and summer seems to be coming to an end. What an excellent opportunity to start thinking about the polar events coming up this winter! In particular, we want to remind you of the Dutch Polar Symposium on December 2nd in the Hague. The symposium will feature state-of-the art science, new developments in polar regions and many networking opportunities for young researchers. You can find some details in our earlier post, and of course we will notify you once registration opens.

APECS NL wants to make sure that young polar researchers are featured during this event and that you get the most out of it. In this year’s edition, which is themed “Sustainability for the Polar Regions”, there will be several interesting opportunities to participate actively:

  • As always, you can submit a poster of your research (once registration opens).
  • For those of you who have particularly interesting new insights and developments to share, we can bring you forward within the organization to give a short talk! Do you have something interesting that you’d like to present to a wide audience of scientists, politicians, artists, etc.? Please get in touch with us a.s.a.p.
  • The Symposium will host an outreach session for elementary school pupils (7th grade), who will learn about the Arctic and submit their questions to a panel of scientists and policymakers. APECS NL will organize a lecture (or series of fun, small lectures) about Arctic topics for these pupils. We are looking for members who are interested to participate and can present some of their research or topic of expertise in an engaging way for a young audience.

Please get in touch if you want to be involved. We hope to hear from you!
